It was a big weekend in Port Elizabeth for motorsport fans last week. Over the long weekend the city was treated to a national karting event – the first round for the 2014 season, a motocross event, a national oval track event, a track day at Aldo Scribante Raceway and a car show on the beachfront – although the weather could have played along a bit more with that one.
This weekend (Friday to Sunday, 28 to 30 March) it might be a little quieter, but there’s still a lot happening.

On Saturday you can look forward to round two of the Eastern Cape Off-Road Club’s Data Scout Championship. This will take place at the Uitsig farm from 09:00 for the Juniors and from midday for the Seniors. (use the GPS co-ordinates 33°57’38.81″S; 24°55’18.09″E to get there). There will also be signposts along the way according to the organisers. For more info get in touch with Cecil Stumke (+27 82 921 9806) or visit the club’s Facebook page at East Cape Offroad Club.

Saturday evening the focus shifts to the Port Elizabeth Oval Track Raceway (PEOTR) on Mission Road in the Greenbushes area. This is a club race event that features the usual suspects in the Beginners, Midgets, 1660 four cylinder, 2.1 modified four cylinder, Hot Rod, Heavy Metal and Modified V8 classes. Sunday the gates will open from 11:00 till 18:00 with Spinning and a Drifting Expo. Entry to the event is R30 per car on each day. For more info contact Ella at +27 74 501 0554.
