Suspicious Minds

I am left wondering how the thought process of members of city councils operates. Case in point is the new traffic circle (complete with speed bumps) that has appeared at the end of my street.

Apparently this new traffic circle is to assist road users trying to get into the road from a side street as they were unable to find a gap in the traffic. This all sounds fine on the surface, the reality is really rather different.
What happens now is that the speed bumps slow the traffic down and the drivers in the side street – which was previously a stop street (that none of them stopped at anyway) – have to wait for a queue of slow cars before they can join the traffic flow.
So the effect of this new system is that the traffic it is supposed to help is actually disadvantaged even more because the authorities have given into the lure of villifying the speed of traffic as a problem warranting attention to improve traffic flow.
Interestingly, there is a relatively simple solution to this problem which if they think about it carefully – and actually do some research instead of sitting on their asses making proclamations about something they know nothing about – they would have worked it out already.
Me, I’m not helping them. It is much funnier to see them stumble about in the dark making matters worse due to their pomposity.
