Motocross season starts this weekend

I stumbled across the fact that the 2017 South African #motocross season gets underway in #PortElizabeth this weekend (specifically Saturday 18 February) at #Rover Motorcycle Club on the Schoenmakerskop road (Victoria Drive).

Rover is the first of a seven round national season – the (deep breath) Monster Energy TRP Distributors SA National Motocross Championship. The event on Saturday is bound to be a challenging start to the season, thanks to the very sandy nature of the local circuit.

Amongst the field at the PE event will be the Husqvarna motocross team. This includes 12-time SA motocross champion Richard van der Westhuizen (717) in MX1, Matthew Malan (57) in MX2 and Slade Smith (737) in the High School class.

Ticket prices for spectators on Saturday are R60 and free for children younger than 12. Racing starts at 10:00. For more information on the event, contact Noleen Roome at tel 082 850 1450.
